Link Categories as a Menu, not a widget

I have created a set of links with the category Awesome. I would like to add a Menu item to my top navigation menu that shows each of the links of the category Awesome. However, when I go to customize menus, the links categories are not visible anywhere to make into a nested menu.

I know on any given page I can use the widget to display links by category, but I really want a dropdown from my menu that shows each of my links that are within the link category Awesome.

The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

This support ticket post put the wrong blog address in that I need help with. It is lplbooksandbeyond.wordpress.com but it isn’t public anyway, it is private and still in development.

Can you link to an example so I can take a look (or tell me the exact category or title if you don’t feel comfortable adding a link yet)?

Also, this page about how category pages work at WordPress.com could be a helpful starting point:

A category must show up in WP Admin > Posts > Categories with published posts in it before it will become available to add as a menu item.
