Link colors – will the bug ever be fixed?
-
Back in September 2010, the ability to change link colors went down, and were left with a washed out grey color… Upon emailing support several times, this was apparently a bug that was going to be fixed very shortly…. but 5 months later it is yet to still be addressed. This ‘bug’ clashes with pages with other links, and makes the pages look disorganized and amateur. Is the washed out grey link color here to stay or is this something that will be genuinely addressed??
If there is no plan to address it no problem, I just don’t want to keep checking week after week wondering when.

Your site is not hosted on WordPress.COM, this site is for support of sites hosted on WordPress.COM. You should address your questions to WordPress.ORG the keepers of the software you are using: http://wordpress.org/support/

I’ve thought about switching to wordpress.org, but I lack the tech ability to run the site and customize it without causing severe brain damage, so I’ve stuck with wordpress.com….

As you have already been in contact with Staff and as there is nothing we Volunteers can do for you, I suggest that you contiue your dialog with Staff > http://en.support.wordpress.com/contact/ -

Also have you noticed this thread that the Theme Staff have posted ?

@rockstarz, the issue is in the TinyMCE editor itself, not something related to wordpress.COM. The TinyMCE editor by Moxiecode is part of the wordpress core. Switching to a self-hosted install will not make this problem go away. The makers of the editor have to fix it.

You even have the same error using the TinyMCE editor on a totally unrelated site. I have the version direct from Moxiecode installed on a plain hand-built page I created for testing on my web host, and it displays the same problem.

@TSP Thanks for your input, so this issue relates to the actual editing software of wordpress. I am thinking after 5 months without a fix, it’s probably something that will remain?
-
No I expect it will get fixed. It is in the bug tracking system over at Moxiecode, one just never knows when they will get around to it.
I had reported this directly to staff, and they said at one point that they thought they had it fixed, but it is still seriously wonky. I got it to work once doing it the way they suggested but the next time I tried the same procedure, it didn’t work.
The only sure way to do it right now is to create the link and then switch to the HTML editor and put the span tags with the color declaration directly around the linked text in the link code.
-
The code would end up looking something like this:
<a href="URL_of_link"><span style="color: #CC0000;">visible text here</span></a> -
