Link colour not changing

I was researching how to change my link colours on my site. I wanted to change it from the standard “orange” which came with the theme to the green matching my logo on the site.
I found this code:
a:link, a:visited {
color: #f00;
}and changed #f00 to the colour i wanted but it was not changing over. So I deleted this code from the .css stylesheet but now my site is stuck to red!! Even though i removed the code, it won’t even go back to its original colour.
