Link creation window is slow on blog with lots of posts

Here we go. Try putting this in the console while viewing wordpress.com:
indexedDB.deleteDatabase(‘calypso’);
That should clear the offline database and let it reload.

I executed that code in the console and restarted Firefox, and bam, the link dialog is speedy again.
-
Absolutely. Now that I’ve reset Firefox I’ll stick with it. Thanks for hanging in there with me!

Hi! It’s been over a month now and I’ve been seeing a steady slowdown of this link box over this time. The link box is back to being very hard to use. Happy to grab video if you need it but it’s not any different from the other videos I’ve shared on this already.

Quick question, Jim. When you’re in the link creation window do you tend to scroll much through the post list or do you search for posts?
-
I do tend to — in large part because search results could be better optimized. If I search for a specific post title very often that post title not only isn’t the first hit, but I have to scroll considerably to find it.
In the old editor, a search for a specific post title usually returns that post as the first hit.
-
FWIW, 98% of the time I search in the link box, I’m searching for a specific post title and must scroll to find it in the results. I’d sure like it if the results were optimized so that searching for a specific title would bubble the associated post high in the search results!

One more bit of info possibly related to this.
I created a contact form on a post (that goes live on Monday) and tested it. The name I used in the contact form now appears as a search item.

Makes me wonder just what all Search is cataloging. I wouldn’t expect to see the results from a contact form show up here. When I link to that item, save the post, preview, and click the link, I get “oops, that page can’t be found.”
