Link etiquette?

If I use a picture from Flickr that has a Creative Commons Licence in my post, what is the link etiquette? Do I place the link at the bottom of the post directing my readers to the picture of Flickr OR do I use place a link WITHIN the picture so when a reader moves the mouse over the picture and clicks it it directs them back to Flickr? Not sure. Please give me some insight.

If it is published under CC, then the licence statement will tell you how to use it. There are lots of diffrent licences.

I tend to link the image to its source and just state the license in the caption. As long as there is no license management (IDEA!) for the media gallery, I find this is enough.

When I’ve used a CC licensed image from flickr, if Attribution is a part of the license I note the flickr user’s name in my post. And while it might not be required, I also link the photo back to the page where it appears on flickr (counts as “views”) and either leave a comment on the photo or flickrmail them to let them know I’ve used their image.
