Link for Email – How to Create
-
How to create a LINK for an email. All that I can find is the http:// – If I try linking to URL, it doesn’t go to email. That is because it is @. What are the proper steps.

I do not recommend posting an email address in that form at all. There are email address harvesting spam bots that look for exactly that format. If you do not wish to have an email address that becomes a target for spammers I recommend using a contact form. http://en.support.wordpress.com/contact-form/

Build the contact form in a Page or Post then link to that from a Text Widget in the sidebar.
I use a custom menu on my site to I have two Pages that are Contact Forms but since I never put them in the custom menu at the top the only way to get to the contact forms is with the links I have in the Sidebar, Pages and Posts.

Thanks Capt. Mike – nice site! — unfortunately I only know the truckers hitch – same as my skill level with web building! I made a contact form in its own hidden page. Now how do i create a link to that in the sidebar? thanks very much for your help.

Use your edit Post or Page Editor
Type in the text you want on the sidebar – then make a link to the Contact Form using the chain link icon on the top row.
Click on the html view and copy the html code produced for the text and link and past the html code into a text widget in the sidebar – instant link with no html skill! (also the way that I make the links – just easier)
Glad you liked my site
Good luck with yours

What is the URL starting with http:// of the “hidden page”? That’s what you need to link to. See here for instructions for creating links in text widgets.
