Link for more than one line of text

I’ve been creating links for blocks of text – essentially poetic sentences – and have discovered that the links don’t work. Each line seems to be separate from the next. I want someone to be able to click on that BLOCK of text rather than a phrase of it. How do I make a link respond to the text block as a whole?
Example:
Therefore our sometime sister, now our Queen,
Th’imperial jointress to this warlike state
Have we, as twere with a defeated joy
With an auspicious and drooping eye
With mirth in funeral and with dirge in marriage
In equal scale weighing delight and dole
Taken to wife.When I select this whole sentence and create a link, it looks like it’s been created but when I test it, it doesn’t actually work.
It’s important to the verse to keep the line breaks, but clearly they’re disrupting the linking process.

Go to HTML editor and remove the space between them. -

Your link doesn’t work because you had somehow selected Address in the Format tool (row 2 tool 1). Delete all of it and try it again, making sure Format is set to Paragraph.

I actually made it address because it seemed to be the only way to get the text single spaced. Can you tell me if there’s a way to adjust the space in the paragraph format? -
Easy; when you type it in, instead of hitting Enter at the end of the line, hold the SHIFT key down and then hit Enter.

PLEASE don’t paste text from WORD. It has so much invisible junk HTML code appended to it that it’s actually one of the most common reasons for blogs getting disrupted.
If you like the way Word works, please either use the Paste From Word button in the second row of icons in the Write Post box OR use Windows Live Writer, which works like Word, is free, and allows you to add categories, tags, images, links, and titles to your posts as you’re writing them.
