link from a word in my text
-
I can create link from an image, that was easy, but I cannot seem to create a hyperlink from a word in my text.
For example, Musee D’Orsay, I want to link it with their website
.
I highlight word, then press the links, then copied the following which i saw on the forum into the box that says URLa href=”Ihttp://www.musee-orsay.fr/en/home.htm”>text for link here</a
ticked a category
did not fill anything else in
saved
but the word when viewed from my website does not appear as a hyperlink. What am I doing wrong

You are putting more than the url in the box. You don’t need to do that. (Those instructions are for writing a link in HTML.) Just put the url in the box and save it.

thanks vivian I wlll give that a go,
However, I am doing this in a post that has already been published. I am editing it, is this possible
-
It doesn’t matter if it is a new post or an old post. It works the same (from the visual editor).

I have tried this but still nothing
I am going to manage, then posts, then choosing an older post
Highlighting the word, clicking link
putiting in description of link ie Musee D’orsay
then putting in http://www.musee-orsay.fr/en/home.html which I cut and pasted from their website
clicked a category, made a new one
clicked save
then went to view site and nothing has happened
Hope all his makes sense?

What in the world are you talking about? There is no choice for category.
I think you need to review this screencast http://faq.wordpress.com/2008/09/09/how-do-i-add-links-to-other-sites-using-the-html-or-visual-editor-screencast/

Yes I have just sorted out, I was using wrong link button, thanks very much for patience.
