Link from Post to Post
-
I’m trying to link from one post to another. I have found the help page that shows how to add links–I feel quite competent to do that. But it seems pointless to lookup the url of the post I want to link to, copy it, then paste it into the post I’m linking from. Isn’t there an easier way to do this? Isn’t there a way to quickly link from post to post in wordpress?
Thanks,

It would also be a lot easier if you were to link your name to your blog.
dashboard -> users -> your profile -> then scroll down to ‘contact info’. In the spot where it says ‘website’ fill in the address of your blog and save the changes -
@themesshall: Easiest way is drag&drop title of post from actual blog page to VISUAL post editor.

@panaghiotisadam, you’ve suggested that drag and drop method several times in the forums. I think it only works in Firefox 3, right? I’m pretty sure my old browser didn’t have that function, and maybe posters in the forums won’t always have that option either.

Which doesn’t mean you shouldn’t recommend it. Just that it would be worth making clear that it is browser dependent, otherwise it could be very frustrating for someone trying to make it work and not understanding why it won’t.

Thanks rosclarke – very good to clarify this. So: I don’t know what happens with IE in particular, as I don’t (and I won’t) deal with it. Other than that, the link drag&drop works in all three browsers I’m using: Firefox, Safari and Flock.
With most link-supporting applications it also works cross-platform: e.g. from Safari to Firefox, from any browser to Word, from my mail to Firefox, from Flock to my mail. Then again, I’m a Mac user – maybe that’s a factor too.
I’d like to hear more on this from you and other experienced members.

I just tried it in IE7 and I can’t find a way of dragging from one tab to another. If you had multiple browsers open you could probably do it. And maybe IE8 has better functionality.
