link from “Rape daily”

  I guess these are a kind of link spam or something, but is there some way that I could *not* be informed that a site called “Rape Daily” has linked to my blog, which is about setting up a FreeBSD OS by the way, and is not related in any way to rapes, or apparently beatings of a Saudi juvenile? I haven’t even looked at the contents of the link & don’t want to, but even the title is offensive.

  Hi,

  Please ignore such things. That link is reported (probably accurately) by Google as linking to your blog. Spammers link to many blogs at random in the hope that you’ll find the referrer in your stats and click on the link.

  We have no control over who links to your blog, so there’s not much we can do to stop it.

  It was the first line on the first page on my “dashboard”, although it’s disappeared now, and it’s a bit difficult to ignore it.

  It should be possible to filter this, either at the WordPress level or the Google level.

  You can no more stop people from linking to you than you can stop them from pointing at you on the street. But in 48 hours they’ll be off your dashboard entirely.

  I have links from months ago on the dashboard. This link has been there nearly a week now. I’m not asking them to stop linking to me, I’m asking WordPress not to tell me about it. The word “jail” appears innocently enough in the context of FreeBSD, presumably this is the origin of the link.
