link help
-
When I leave a comment on a blog and then click my name to go to the link. . . it goes to another blog that isn’t mine. Same name but totally different blog. I have no idea how to fix this or why it’s doing this. The links are the same as my name “In Good Taste” and my URL are different. I’m trying to change the URL but I realized that you can’t.
The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

Your username currently links to the same URL you provided here, that is, http://coffeeloveandjesus.wordpress.com/ and it goes to what appears to be your website as your photo appears on it. If you want it to link to a different URL you can change it under Users ->Personal Settings in the dashboard. It’s the field titled “Website” under Account Details.

Still did not work. Did not change the URL nor change the link that it went to the other blog.

It now links to http://ingoodtastes.wordpress.com/ where minutes ago it linked to http://coffeeloveandjesus.wordpress.com/ so you obviously changed something.

That’s strange because when I go to my homepage this is my link: http://coffeeloveandjesus.wordpress.com/ which was my old blog title. I recently changed it. I tried to change it but on my screen it says it’s the old URL. I would like for it to be in good tastes (since I can’t use the in good taste) but I’m so confused as to what is going on with it. Sorry.

and I click on the link that you provided with the in good tastes and it says it doesn’t exsisit

I left a comment on this blog:http://pocketfulofmotherhood.wordpress.com/2014/07/14/a-rainbow-promise/
I’m all the way at the bottom. If you click my name it goes to another blog. That’s my problem. That’s the only way I can explain is for you to go there yourself and see the issue.

I think I know what’s going on. You’ve changed the URL your username links to, but you haven’t actually changed your blog’s URL yet (it’s completely different from merely changing the blog’s name). If you want your blog itself to be at ingoodtastes.wp.com you’ll first need to register that address. Follow the instructions in this support doc to change your blog URL: http://en.support.wordpress.com/changing-blog-address/ If you do it this way your content should automatically be transferred to the new site. I’m not 100% sure about the theme, but I think that as well.
Please make sure you read the support doc and all instructions and warnings carefully as this process cannot be reversed.
As part of the process you’ll have the option to change your username to ingoodtastes. Note that if you do this your current username will cease to exist and you won’t later be able to go back to it. If you prefer, you can also keep your username what it is and simply change your display name (what will appear next to comments – on the forum it will still be the actual username that appears). Instructions to do that can be found here: http://en.support.wordpress.com/change-your-username/
When prompted whether you’d like to keep the old URL or delete it, consider keeping it as deleted URLs can never be recovered: http://en.support.wordpress.com/recycling-blog-names/
Rather, set the old address to private, and then you can either use it as a test blog to try out new themes and widgets, etc., or you can use it as a backup to your regular blog by periodically importing content to it. http://en.support.wordpress.com/settings/privacy-settings/
If you want to transfer your followers to the new address you can ask staff to do it for you. It might also be a good idea after the move to create a post on the old address that you have moved and leave it up for a few weeks before you delete or set the old address to private. You could also purchase the site redirect upgrade which will mean if someone types coffeeloveandjesus in their browser it will automatically take them to ingoodtastes, but that’s up to you. http://en.support.wordpress.com/site-redirect/

@valentinadangela
Your question is not related to this one. Please start a new thread here: https://en.forums.wordpress.com/?new=1Be sure to include the URLs of both your blog and your website and be patient while waiting for a response.

If I change my URL will I loose any followers, or any past posts? that’s my main concern and holds me back from changing anything else.

Here’s how to link your username to another primary blog registered under the same username account http://onecoolsitebloggingtips.com/2007/10/06/link-your-username-to-your-blog/
NOTE: the chnage is not retroactive. All comments your left previously will still be linked as they were when approved.NOTE: If you change a blog URL and find the Home link is still linked to the former URL then the solution is to create a custom menu http://en.support.wordpress.com/menus/ and use the correct Home link provided in the Pages box for the new URL. http://en.support.wordpress.com/menus/#adding-pages

P.S.I apologize for the obvious grammar errors. I am visually challenged and have eye strain. I’m multitasking from my business and moving at to fast a pace to proofread everything before clicking submit.

@coffeeloveandjesus
Changing your blog address won’t affect your content. The blog will essentially stay the same, it will only be at a different address. I’m not sure (and the support doc does not specify) if your subscribers move with you. In any case, if they don’t staff can move them over for you if they don’t.Then there’s also the site redirect upgrade above which will mean if anyone clicks on one of your old comment links which are still linked to the old blog, as timethief indicated, they will be redirected to your new blog automatically. It’s worth considering if your blog has been around for a while.
