Link not working

I’m trying to copy and paste the code for a image link into a post. I create the post, click the HTML tab and paste the code where I want it to go. When I go back to the Visual tab it looks perfect. But when I preview or publish the link is long convoluted text.

On which post or page are you adding this link? And what is the link you are trying to add, please?
Are you using the Add Media button to add an image and then add a link to that? Or is it the link for the image itself that you’re just pasting in the editor?
Pasting just the link in the HTML tab won’t work, as you need to add it using HTML if you use that editor. To add an image in HTML you need to use:
<img src="http://IMAGE_URL_HERE" /> -

It’s an affiliate link that has the code for the link as well, I’m not just writing the URL in the HTML editor. :) Walmart has a widget that makes the code for the link that’s supposed to include everything, and when I preview this post it looks perfect but when it’s actually published it’s just this long string of text.

What is the exact code that you’re trying to add? You’ll see a button saying “Code” at the top of the text box in the forum. Click that, paste the code, then click it again.
Some types of code is not allowed on WordPress.com for security reasons. If I can see the code I’ll be able to tell if that’s the problem here or not.

You did not use the code button to past that as I asked above, so I cannot see all of the code.
However, the Walmart affiliate code don’t work here, as it contains code which is not allowed on WordPress.com. To add their affiliate link to your site you will need to download the image itself and add it to your site using the Add Media button. Then you need to get the plain HTML affiliate link if Walmart offers one and link that to the image you added.
If Walmart does not offer a plain affiliate link option, you won’t be able to use their affiliate links here.
