Link on new post is not allowing me to "link"

  Link icon is not working on my “new post” page~ can’t link back to wordpress daily prompt or post a link. LInk icon is “faded,” won’t open when clicked on. Please help!

  Dear Community,
  Please offer help. When I post and attempt to link back to a site (ie: wordpress daily prompt~ today), I noticed that the link symbol was “faded,” and when clicked on, would not open to allow me to post the link. I attempted a “new post~” same problem, link is not opening to allow the link to be posted. Suggestions are welcome!
