LINK OPEN EXTERNAL in media

    OPENING EXTERNAL LINKS for downloaded MEDIA in posts DOES NOT work!!! What a mess! It used to work fine, but WordPress has just made new changes, and ever since then, nothing works. Allow me to illustrate.
    When you click on ANY MEDIA in a post (mine are always .jpg) in ANY POST, and scroll down to:
    Open link in a new tab & click on it, to make sure it opens in a NEW tab,
    & THEN type in the link in
    Link Rel for instance,
    https://www.academia.edu/23643380/Archaeology_and_Science_Vol._10_2014_An_Archaeologists_Translation_of_Pylos_Tablet_641-1952._pp._133-161
    and then click the blue Update button to Update and (supposedly) SAVE the update, and THEN
    you go back to check to see if in fact your Update has been saved, guess what!!! IT HAS NOT!!!
    What the blazes is going on here? Has WordPress Admin lost its mind? I have been using WordPress for over 3 years, no hitches, and now this. What a mess!
