Link Order within Categories Resolved

    I noticed lots of questions on reordering links within a category. I’m a WordPress.com newbie and was also struggling to get links to list within a category in an order I want – default seems to be alphabetical. I found that by adding a Text box, I could include HTML.

    Here’s a cheat that even HTML newbies can use:
    set up a link that’s got all of the categories you want.
    View the page source (View > Page Source under Firefox). A list of the source code for your page will show up – don’t be intimidated.
    Search for your category name & copy all the text surrounding your links staring from the first
    ‘<ul …
    to the last
    ‘

    This is the code that creates the bullets for your links. Now create a ‘Text’ widget and paste this code into the text field of the text widget. You can then re-order your links within this box. Each bulleted line starts with
    ‘

  • and ends with
    ‘

    • so copy and paste these as complete segments when moving your order around.

    Hope that helps – I spent a few hours searching before realizing this easy fix.
