link post to menu – free wordpress.com

    hello I created a website on wordpress.com – free acount. I use the theme which is called CANARD. I made the menu with few items but I have a problem – I can’t link my new posts with categories in my menu. How can I add particular post to particular item? I ve watched some tutorials but they all concern some other type of wordpress I think that may be a wordpress.org, I don’t know, but layout of my site is different. For example these tutorials propose to solve this kind of problem with the option ‘appearance’ visible on the toolbar on the left. But my toolbar is different, so I cant to manage it like that. I have tried with option customize -> menu but it still doesn’t work. Is anybody can explain me step by step, how to link post to menu on free wordpress.com?

    Hi nanneta,

    first you need to create a category. One of the ways is going to Settings > Writing > Categories

    Organize Posts with Categories

    Then make the category a menu item Customize > Menus > Primary > Add items > Categories

    Finally when you create a post in the right side menu choose the right category.
