Please advise? I have a front page and links set up to posts. All good.
…. but only some of the icon pictures are shown in the menus and Ive lost the plot, I know its something so simple but Im a tad blog blind! Very many thanks x -
Hi there,
I see that you created a static home page and put images on that page to link to your blog posts. You are welcome to do this, but then you will need to manually add new images to that page when you create new blog posts.
If you want, the Hatch theme can do this automatically for you. To set it up, you can go to Settings > Reading in your blog’s dashboard. On that page, next to “Front page displays,” select “Your latest posts.” Then click Save Changes.
Icons for your latest blog posts will then be displayed on the front page of your site, and visitors can click on the image to view the post.
If you have any questions about this, please let me know!

Hello, and a great big thankyou Rachael!
Thats so simply sorted, brilliant thank you.
May I ask if this now means that the the pictures will feature in menus too? Some of the icons are pictures and some still blanc and Im unsure how to fix?
Sincerest thanks x -
Hatch attempts to pull the first attached image in your post to display on your front page, but that doesn’t always work. If it can’t display the image, it will display the light grey box that you are seeing.
To ensure that an image is displayed, you can assign a featured image to each of your posts. You can do this using the Featured Image module in the post editor when you create or edit a post.
Featured images will appear both on the blog as a preview and full size in single post view. Please note, on single posts the featured image will be duplicated if it is also included in the post content.
Let me know if you have any questions about that! :)

Rachael, your guidance is grand, thank you!
All sorted no more ‘greys’ to be seen.
I made a trial posting which didnt show the picture in the mailshot however? So any thoughts for that will be appreciated as and when you have moment.
Thanks again -
When you say it didn’t show in the mailshot, do you mean the picture didn’t appear in the email notification you received about the post? Right now, because of how featured images are used differently across different themes, featured images are not included in email notifications. However, this is something we are keeping in mind for future updates!

Thank you once again,
Other email notifications have included pictures, so now Im a tad confused, is this something I can do manually within future posts Rachael? -
Email notification don’t include featured images, but they will include other images that you insert into the post. In other words, the featured image that Hatch displays on the front page of your site won’t be included in the email notifications, but if you insert other images into the body of your post, those will be included. I hope that helps explain the difference. :)
