Hello, I am in the process of building my first theme on my own and it is relatively simple. It is news aggregator site that only consists of links (no summaries, no thumbnail images). I am trying to figure out how I an easily update the links (and the text that represents them) without having to alter the code itself. I appreciate any guidance on this and wanted to say my experience with wordpress has been amazing. Thank you in advanced.

You can also create a blogroll of links for your site

Of what site are you speaking? Custom themes cannot be used on WordPress.com unless you have the Business Plan, and I don’t see any sites on that plan in your account. That makes me think you’re working on a site using the self-hosted WordPress.org software. We don’t provide support for that software here in the WordPress.com forums.
You can try the self-hosted forums, but what you’re describing will most likely require a plugin of some sort:
