How to Create Links with the Visual Editor
1. Highlight the text you want to link.
2. Click the link button on the toolbar.this is the menu I’m having an issue with thank you, please advise. http://unklesal.wordpress.com/

You are close, but look at the link text:
http://http//sports.espn.go.com/new-york/mlb/news/story?id=5810420You have “http” Twice – edit the link to
http//sports.espn.go.com/new-york/mlb/news/story?id=5810420and it should work better – the double “http” is a common goof – inspect your other links for the same problem – I always check the link in preview to make sure I did not goof –(WordPress.COM even did the double “http” to some of my links in error when I transferred my site onto WordPress.COM.)

hey thanks I think you saved my life hahahaha. I’ve only had this problem since they set up the newer link menu, I just made a note not to make that mistake didn’t notice it, again thank you for the help!!!

There are two aspects of the “Link” function that have been impacted as a result of the new change. unkalsal bumped into Problem #1.
1st, when I grab a link and open the Link Editor, my courser is placed behind the “http://” as a default. This means if I just paste the link I have on my clipboard, I get this:
http://http://en.blog.wordpress.com/2010/11/19/linking-sorting-paging/
Which, of course, is no good.
2nd: When I have finished pasting the link in the edit window, I wanna be able to “Tab” down to “Save Link”. In the old editor I could, in the new one I have to mouse to it.
Minor things maybe, but in the old version I could paste and submit my link all without moving from keyboard to mouse.

That first problem was a problem four years ago, but they fixed it long ago. Presumably the method for fixing it will still work, if staff know about it.

Ah, that second one is going to be a problem for me. As anyone can see from my blog, I use a LOT of links, and even with tab it takes forever.
