Link saving/editing
-
Hi, I am adding a link to my blog roll. For some reason, when saving it, WP removes the [ ] around part of the text which makes the link not function. Is there a way to solve this? Thanks
WP saved link: http://www.oberberg-aktuell.de/index.php?id=70&tx_ttnewstt_news=162213
Proper link: http://www.oberberg-aktuell.de/index.php?id=70&tx_ttnews%5Btt_news%5D=162213
The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

Hi there,
can you explain what you mean by adding [ ]? Is there a reason for adding the brackets? You can add any link as is without any brackets or link specific text as seen here:
If this is not what you mean, can you please provide me where you are trying to add this link and I can take a further look!

Oh fooey, now I see that the brackets are missing in what I designated with “proper link”. Here is how the link should be spelled:
http://www.oberberg-aktuell.de/index.php?id=445&tx_ttnews%5Btt_news%5D=162213
[ ] are placed around the 2nd tt_news which are necessary for the link to function. When saving the link to the “Links” section of my blog WP automatically shaves them off and the link refuses to function.

That is simply bizarre! My experience is the exact reverse of your screen shots.
I use Firefox and the link with the brackets works with the picture and article from the newspaper. I copy and save the link to my site on WP; the brackets are removed and the link shows up as the empty “mock up” page in your screen shot with the bracketed link. Believe me, if the link functioned as yours does, I wouldn’t be here. I wonder if there is some international code with brackets that gets translated? -
So I did a little research and found that this will depend on your browser. In Chrome square brackets will not work, but in Firefox it will.
So what you can do is use this link:
http://www.oberberg-aktuell.de/index.php?id=70&tx_ttnews%5Btt_news%5D=162213
Instead of the brackets you see %5B and %5D. That link will work in all browsers.
Cheers!

Well I guess we learned something about computer languages this way. The link can now be saved and functions perfectly. Thanks mucho and all the best.
