  How do I set a picture to appear next to the link when I share my blog?

  Hi there. Do you mean when sharing on Facebook and other social media?

  Usually your blavatar will display there. You can upload a blavatar under Settings ->General on the dashboard: http://en.support.wordpress.com/avatars/blavatars/

  When sharing specific posts, if you have a featured image uploaded WordPress also suggests that social media use that, but in the end it’s the software of the respective social media platform that determines which image is used. http://en.support.wordpress.com/facebook-image-thumbnail/
