Link text now black on the Blog Editor
-
The color of the links within the Blog Editor has been changed to black and it’s very difficult to see them. There is no change to links that have been recently viewed either, still black.
Editing is more difficult without the contrast color of the links.
The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)
-
I also tried using Chrome as well as Firefox browsers and both are the same.
This is in the visual blog editor that the links are no longer blue but black text.
-
I agree with you 100% and noticed that on this blog http://onecoolsiteblogghingtips.com yesterday. I used Firefox and I published a 1640 word post. Well I could not see the links I had inserted into it in the editor. I was so ANGRY that I have yet to publish a post today. Note that I have tagged this thread for Staff intervention. Blogging is already hard enough when you are visually challenged and this change makes it even harder.
-
I was thinking of you when I posted this late last night. For anyone with any visual difficulties, this screams inaccessible.
Thanks for tagging this thread.
-
You’re welcome. I’m pretty sure it must be a an unintended glitch that will be easy for Staff to fix (fingers crossed).
-
I do hope so, too.
There are other changes to the blog editor, but this one does not make blogging “fun”.
They moved the revisions from the bottom of the post to the side under the Publish tab. So, maybe you are right, they made these other changes and the link text color is a technical glitch.
-
They moved the revisions from the bottom of the post to the side under the Publish tab.
Oh lovely! I’ve yet to discover that. grrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr ….
-
It’s set up a bit differently, too. I guess I’ll have to get used to it. Don’t particularly like it at the moment, though. Too many clicks to get to earlier drafts.
-
I had a dental surgery week – root canals and temporary crowns so I’m not feeling keen about discovering any unannounced and unexpected software changes at this point in time. After the weekend maybe my attitude will be more accommodating. Right now any change is likely to evokes the grrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr …. response.
P.S. We need to stop posting to this thread as we are moving the timestamps further forward and it will take longer to get Staff attention. they work forward from threads with the earliest dates and timestamps to the most recent ones.

Hi dandelionsalad (and timethief),
Are you still having issues with the link text? If so, please first try logging out of WordPress.com, clear your browser cache, and log back in to see if that clears things up.
If not, could you upload a screenshot so I can see what you’re seeing, along with your browser/version you’re using?

I just tried again. This is not a browser issue. I am using Firefox 22. Something changed at the WordPress end of things. If I hover my mouse directly over the anchor text then I can witness the link in the Visual editor. If I don’t hover over the specific anchor text I just see a slough of text with no indication where the links have been entered.

Thanks for helping us out, Jackiedana.
I uploaded to media a screenshot called “screenshot-black-text-links.jpg”.
Yes, already cleared cache and cookies and logged out and in again. No changes, though.
I’m using Firefox 22.0, but also tried Chrome yesterday.
-
The links are underlined but in black text. Hovering changes the link to a light blue color, but no color change for recently viewed links.
When editing blog posts I need to see which links I’ve gone to recently.
-
Hi dandelionsalad and timethief,
I’m not sure if this is an intentional change to the editor or not, so I am investigating this issue for you. I’ll let you know what I find out!

Thanks so much, Jackiedana.
I do hope this is a technical error and not a “new” change to the blog editor.
And to timethief, hope you are feeling better.
-
Thanks the links are now blue again. Although the recently viewed links are not showing up in another color (still blue). There needs to be a visual change for those links.
-
Hi dandelionsalad,
The link color was fixed up after my report; I’ve let the developers know that visited links remain blue like unvisited links. Hopefully that will get sorted out soon as well. :)
