Link to a file

  Is there a way to link to a file on another site, and have the file download instead of trying to open it as a page?

  As part of my hiking blog I want to include a link to a .gpx file, but when I include the URL on the page as a link the browser opens the file in a browser window instead of downloading.

  The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

  I believe that action (download or open) is actually determined by your viewer’s browser settings. I don’t believe we can control that from our end.

  You could note next to the link to “right-click link and save to download the file”, but that is my PC talking. I’m sure Mac users do it differently.
