link to blogger

    Hello,
I’m trying to create a page that would link directly to my previous blog on blogger. It was different in many ways, and I’d like to keep it as it was. Just have a page saying (previous blog, or some such), and when a visitor clicks on that link, it would take him or her directly to the previous blog on blogger. How can I do this? I’ve seen it on other wordpress websites, but can’t seem to manage to do it. I just downloaded the whole blog onto my wordpress site, which is not at all what I wanted to do. Thank you for your help.

The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

The easiest way to do that would be to add a custom link to your menu:

    Menus

Under the URL for the link, you would want to enter your Blogger blog address. Can you give that a try?

Thank you very much, Jeremey. I have tried this, but cannot see how to associate this action to the actual page for which I’m trying to create that link. All it does is create the link in a menu that I didn’t even choose. I need this link for a page. ??

    Hi!

It isn’t possible to enable a redirect for a specific page. Meaning, if you created a page (say katianovetsaintlot.wordpress.com/blogger), you wouldn’t be able to say, “Automatically redirect that page to my Blogger address.” The best option would be adding a custom link in your menu bar. While that won’t create an actual page on your site, it will accomplish the same effect. When a reader clicks that menu item, they should be taken directly to Blogger.

    Does that help to clarify?

Thanks again, Jeremey. I have actually seen this done on someone’s website (where I clicked on a page on the left, it was the confit theme, and it took me directly to the page of a blog in blogger.) Unfortunately, I can’t remember where I saw this.

May I ask another question? I would like to have a different photo as background on different pages of the website. I think I will settle on the confit theme. How can I do this? Right now, when I change the background photo, it changes it on all the pages?

Thanks so much for your help,
    Katia

I’m betting this was done with a custom link in the menu. For example, the menu on the left is a custom menu here:

    https://confitdemo.wordpress.com/

You could put a custom link in that menu. So, if “Reservations” was actually a custom link on that demo site, it would direct you elsewhere, not to a Reservations page on that site. Does that make sense?

You can achieve this by setting a featured image for each individual page:

    Featured Images

You’ll want to make sure the featured images are rather large (1600px wide) so they look great as they’re expanded.

Thanks, Jeremey. This worked. And you were right about the menu vs. page issue for the direct link. It worked as well. Thanks so much for your help.
