link to my blog posts
-
Another beginner’s question, I’m afraid. I haven’t found anything in the help section.
I’m trying to find a link to my blog. Not the ‘home page’, but a link to the *posts*, which will connect either to the *latest* post, or to the blog as a whole, listing posts below it. (At the moment I have only one blog post, but this will change in the coming weeks!)
As a bonus question, how do I put such a link in the top menu?
Many thanks!
The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

Hello storystag,
You should see your blog posts once they are published at the following address, http://www.storystag.wordpress.com/blog/
I see a 404 error – Page not found. I think that once you “publish” your first blog post, it should display on the link that I am notating.
Right now, your Menu has the following items:
Home | Stories | Flash FictionHere is a tutorial on setting up your Menu – I hope it helps set your menu as you wish :-)

Hi Chelsea,
Thanks for the links and the advice! I already have one post published, it’s even visible in the side menu under ‘recent posts’, so I don’t know why the blog can’t be found. I’ll keep trying.

Okay, so I do see that you have 1 blog post and quite a few pages :-)
Only the posts that you create are going to fall under your blog.
If you have 1 post, only that post will fall under your blog. You can set up your menu to display a link to your blog if that is what you are trying to accomplish. If you would like for your blog to be front and center when a reader looks at your homepage, you can change your static page to your blog: https://en.support.wordpress.com/pages/front-page/
The general rule is that people use the Pages feature on their sites to create static content (content that does not often change), such as About Me or Contact Me page. Pages are different from posts on a WordPress website. WordPress separates posts from pages to distinguish the two types of content.
With that being said, the 404 Not Found may be resolved by reviewing the steps here:
https://en.support.wordpress.com/not-found/Whew! I feel like I added quite a bit of information.
I have added a modlook tag to this for some additional assistance :-)
Sincerely,
Chelsea

Hi Chelsea,
Thank you, it worked! I knew the difference between pages and posts, but the static front page info was really useful, it shows how to have a blog as well as a static front page. Basically, you need a page called ‘blog’ then go to ‘customise’ and set ‘blog’ as the posts page. Magic.
Thanks again,

Nice work, @chelseaology ! This thread had a modlook tag, but it looks like you’ve got it. Cheers! And best wishes with the new site, Noam.

Yay! Thank you supernovia for confirming the issue, and I am glad you are up and running Noam!

Cool, I’ve also now learned about modlook! :)
Is that the literal tag, or is it wpcomhelp?
Cheers,
Noam -
@storystag it’s literally “modlook” — if there’s a thread that can’t be answered with community help, or which needs staff attention, that’s the tag to add.
