link to my site has disappeared
-
When I come to my WordPress sign in page, I enter secondchancetolive and then the password. Recently I have noticed that what used to be a welcome back secondchancetolive has been replaced with dashboard. When I click on the dashboard link, I am taken to my dashboard, however the link that had been available to get me to my blog / site has disappeared. Puff. Don’t know where it has gone. I don’t know where it has gone.
I can not get to my site through my dashboard now. I have to enter http://www.secondchancetolive.wordpress.com in the http:// section of my browser. Please help me to fix this link matter. Thank you.

Additionally, when I click on that link to My Dash Board, some of my menu is gone now…such as presentation, Manage, and other items. Please help me fix matter. Thanks so very much.

You mean the link to your site is gone off your actual site or in the dashboard itself? The items in your dashboard are gone as well? It is on your blog or another one that you are involved in? If it is another blog where you are not the admin, it won’t show the ‘administrative’ options. If it is your blog, try logging out, clearing cache and logging back in. If that is still not working, send in a feedback (if it is still there) or send an email to support at this domain describing your problem. This doesn’t seem normal.

No I mean that under the Welcome back Secondchancetolive is no longer a link to my blog to take me to my site. It has been replaced with Dashboard. I have gone to my Dashboard through this now replace option and my dash board has changed appearance. My blog stats have changed. I do not know if someone is pirating my system from somewhere or what? if you can please work your mojo and find out what is going on with my site. Thanks Trent.

That is what you are seeing. You might have to bookmark you blog admin in your browser as a new way to access your blog.

I have no idea what you are suggesting Trent. I am a relative newbie to this world of the bloggosphere, 3 weeks. I am trying to synthesis as much information as possible and need direct support on trouble shooting this as well as what I have shared with you on another forum concerning my site. I am sending this to Support. Hopefully they will be able to look at my site and find out what is going on and fix the problem. Hopefully.

I got 2 threads going on for you with this! The new Global Dashboard link that is created from logging in on the wordpress.com main page is a way for users of the service (without a blog) to have access to a Dashboard for their profile as without a blog, they don’t have one. That was a problem.
The link, however doesn’t take you to your blog dashboard anymore. It takes you to a global dashboard with nothing to do with your blog. To get to your admin now, click on the “My Dashboard” button in the blue admin bar at the top of your page after logging in. That is the best way to get to your blog admin now.
The Dashboard you are seeing is your new “Global” dashboard and not your blog dashboard! Hense no admin links! It seems confusing, but really isn’t a bad thing….just different in terms of your navigation path you are used to!

Sorry abou the 2 threads. At the time, when I started the first thread…I was not aware of the second matter which I thought was a separate issue. I thank you for answering both threads. I am not wanting these 2 threads to seem as though I am “spamming” the forum. I have sent an email to support and am requesting they fix this for me, Trent. I am new and do not have alot of technical where with all. I am having a time trying to figure out how to get my social book marking this down. I would like my blogging experience to be simple and Word Press may be too technically demanding for me. I may seek out another more stream lined, user friendly blogging engine. I want to stay with WordPress, as I have over 1250 hits in the last 3 weeks since I started here. People have been told and I have spent many hours marketing my blog to professional organizations and other groups that could benefit from my blog. I would rather not burn all this time and start over.

The new Global Dashboard link that is created from logging in on the wordpress.com main page is a way for users of the service (without a blog) to have access to a Dashboard for their profile as without a blog, they don't have one. That is the best way to get to your blog admin now. That will have to do for now until the staff put something up. I thought the global dashboard would have contols for all your blogs, not just your profile. Let’s wait for what they have to say. Until then, go your dashboard by clicking on the “My Dashboards” link in the blue admin bar that follows you around everywhere you go or click on:
http://yourblogname.wordpress.com/wp-admin/
Substituting out yourblogname for your actual blogname.

secondchance, you’re not understanding what Trent is saying.
He says:
WordPress has changed the page you see when you sign in. Click on the button there that says “My Dashboard”.
That’s all. WordPress is not going to change their login procedures now to save you one click.

Trent I appreciate your help in this matter. I am just a bit frustrated. My situation is far more than my dashboard. I can not get to my site through the log on page with word press and my stats are messed up, ect. I hope support can mitigate and fix my problems directly.

Hey Trent. I entered the http://yourblogname.wordpress.com/wp-admin/ and it seemed to get me back to where I was before the problem started. Not sure what happened or why I needed to do this to get my site stuff to work. Thanks for your help. Hopefully Support will be able to fix this for me. Have a nice Monday.

I understand your frustration secondchancetolive and I am sure staff will respond to you in the morning. However, this particular problems and frustration is coming out of the fact that you cannot access your blog’s admin the way you did earlier today, yesterday and the day before. If you read the post from Matt, it is about allowing users without blogs to have access to a dashboard as well as users who do have blogs like you and I.
Unless they change what is shown in the global dashboard, the link that says “My Dashboard” now under the welcome page, it will take you to:
http://dashboard.wordpress.com/wp-admin/
Check the link, that is where it is taking you. However, the blue admin bar still has a link called “My Dashboard” as well. That is the link that will take you to your blog until you get a better answer from staff when they respond tomorrow. I understand what your frustration and sympathize, but just want you to find your dashboard (of your blog) now.

Thanks again Trent. I left word on the other thread. I used your suggestion on the other thread and it got me back to my dash board before the clitch. I appreciate your kindness. I hope I did not come across unkindly towards you, Sir. Thanks again for your time and help. Have a nice Monday. Craig http://dashboard.wordpress.com/wp-admin/
