  How long after starting a new blog will Google pick it up?

  It usually won’t take long once you submit your URL to them (if it is a domain mapping and not a username.wordpress.com address. Try that and they will start indexing you not too long afterwards.

  To quantify that, allow a month for search engines to start regularly checking your blog. After the initial startup time, they do keep current. It can take far less time, but it’s safe not to bet on that.

  *sigh* Please use thumbnails for your images. A 2.1 meg picture followed by 3 650-700kb ones is just going to annoy your visitors. That’s at least a 17 minute download for someone on dial up, just to load the front page of your blog.
