Link to sidebar is missing – how to get it back?

  • Unknown's avatar

Hi! I’m helping a friend out with her small website and I will try my best to explain as english is my second language.

She can not access the sidebar category – the link to it is missing!

So, the problem is that the link /category link to the sidebar is missing! The actual link has somehow been deleted!

How can I access the sidebar now when the complete link to it is gone?

The sidebar is showing on the page online but it can not be found within the WordPress editing pages, there’s not way to edit it as there is no link to it.
Hope I explained enough for someone to please help me figure this out and how to fix this.
    Thanks!

    Hi there,

May you please share the URL of the site in question.

In the meantime, please note the sidebar is usually located in the customizer where it says Widgets for most themes. That would be
My sites > Appearance>Customize >Widgets ( for ost themes) .If the sidebar is featured in a different location the support documentation for the theme will specify where to locate the sidebar.

It does not specify where to locate the sidebar.
The sidebar menue is included under “pages” in the left side menue only. Nothing about sidebars!

Thank you. Sorry I am not allowed to include the URL and the page/menue is also not in English.

In the menue-item-object-page the link to the specific sidebar is missing.

The sidebar that is missing the code.

Seems to be a mess to include codes, sorry, I did not know that.

So how do I find a missing a href that has been deleted (but the sidebar is still there)?

The sidebar is still visible on the page, but can not be edited or even found in the menu anywhere within WordPress administation. How do I fix that?

Many thanks to anyone for coming with ideas in how to fix this!

    Hi there,

I have marked your thread for staff as they are the only ones able to look into your site without you sharing the URL :-).

@mia68s – I don’t show that you have any websites under the account you’re logged into.

Can you let us know what the URL is of the site where you’re having this problem? Once we have that information, we’ll be better able to advise.

NOTE: We can only assist with websites hosted here at WordPress.com. If you’re using the WordPress software, but hosted elsewhere, you will need to reach out to your hosting provider or the WordPress.org community for guidance:

    Thank you!
