Link to the Fediverse

I have followed the instructions to link to the Fediverse but when I try to follow my ‘account’ on Mastodon it says ‘Follow Requested’ and I don’t know how to log in to this account to approve it. If you could advise, I would be grateful. Regards, Keith.
WP.com: Yes
Jetpack: No
Correct account: YesThe blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

According the the Curator on my instance, this ‘might be an authorised_fetch issue. Auth_Fetch is a setting we have enabled that makes blocks two-way; without it, when we block an instance, we can’t see them but they can still see us. It makes interactions between instances require authentication (something that happens automagically on the bakend), but can cause problems with non-Mastodon Activity Pub implementations if the other software doesn’t support it.’ A user on an instance (.social) that does not have Auth_Fetch enabled did not have any problems following the (email visible only to moderators and staff) account on Mastodon.

Can you tell me the Mastodon instance you are using, so that I can run some tests.
Thanks :)

I’m on Mastodon.art and my WordPress ‘handle’is @(email visible only to moderators and staff) (we spoke this morning so this message might be abit late. Apologies.) K

No problem :)
I had a lot of tests with mastodon.art today, the host/admin is really nice and helpful and we will roll out a possible fix in the next few hours. I will let you know when it is live.

Sadly the quick fix does not work here. It seems that there are issues with Mastodon servers hosted on masto.host, we still investigate!

Thank you for the update, I really appreciate your hard work. I created a post yesterday and it was posted onto Mastodon and other followers saw it. Sadly I still can’t access/follow the account so couldn’t see it myself. I will be patient, I know you’ll solve the quandary in good time. Thank you very much. Regards, K

I have filed an issue on GitHub to be able to document the progress https://github.com/Automattic/wordpress-activitypub/issues/523

Hi, I’m having the same — or at least a similar issue — with my blog https://steves.life which is hosted on WordPress.com. When I search for myself using Mastodon @(email visible only to moderators and staff) I find the profile, but when I try to follow it, I see that my request is pending. My Mastodon instance is mspsocial.net, but I’ve heard that folks on other instances are having the same problem. Also, my posts are not showing up, just the profile is found. I can certainly log an issue with WordPress support, but came across this forum post, so thought I would just comment. I’m super excited about the Fediverse integration and can’t wait to get it working.

Mine is still in the same state, though apparently it does work and posts are appearing to those who follow the blog, it’s just that as you (and I) are unable to follow we can’tsee them. It seems to affect those instances on the masto.host (I think that’s it, from what I can gather) but I’m reassured that the WordPress team are on the case.

@ssawczyn We have created the issue on GitHub here:

It’s so nice to see such effort being put into solving this issue and I for one appreciate it. I’m not sure how the GitHub thing works, but I’ll try to keep up to date with the thread. Thank you.

We rolled out a fix some days ago and it should now work on all Mastodon instances, including Masto.host and these with AUTHORIZED_FETCH enabled.
The blog-profile might be cached by Mastodon, so please experiment with following both identifiers (for example
@example.com@example.comandhttps://example.com/@example.com), so that Mastodon clears the cache. Can you please give us feedback if you still have issues?

Thank you for your message. I was trying to find the thread to send message, but I couldn’t find it (my ineptitude, of course). Yes, it’s working! Thank you so much, I can even see the Alt-text on the featured image if I add Alt-text to the media (nice, thoughtful touch). I still have to figure out how to change the Mastodon profile and header picture. I think this is taken from the header image and logo but the theme I’m using (Mayland) doesn’t have a header image so I might have to change the theme.
But thank you so much for all your work.
Regards, Keith

I look forward to thank, but for now, thank you for everything you and the team have done.
