  Currently you can upload the following: jpg jpeg png gif pdf doc ppt. And you can link to any document available on the net. And although it does not address your issue this is a thread about WORD that’s definitely worth reading http://faq.wordpress.com/2006/11/09/why-not-to-use-word/

  when writing your post, you can upload the word document using the form below the editor. after you upload the file, click ‘send to editor’, and it will create the link for you.
