linked site missing its own username

    I created a site linked to a username, Carlos00m.wordpress.com linked to user [redacted].

    I want to have a user carlos00m,
    because I do not want to publish articles on carlos00m.wordpress.com as Carlo00m or [redacted], I want to publish articles as carlos00m.

    But when I try to create a user carlos00m it says ‘Choose a different username. This one is not available.’

    Please help me create a new user carlos00m so I can link it to carlos00m.wordpress.com?

    Hi carlo00m,

    That’s right, carlos00m.wordpress.com is owned by [redacted] so only that account can choose the username, carlos00m.

    This is because we automatically reserve a matching username when someone creates a site on WordPress.com. We also reserve a matching site address based on someone’s username when they create an account — the process works the same both ways.

    I hope this clears things up but please let me know if you have any questions.

    Dear Gemma, Thank you for the message, I understand you feel sure I should change the car…man..sar account to match carlos00m?
    Kindly understand the reason of keeping blogs with seperate identities is to honour the principle of anonymity in 12 step recovery groups… this public post basically discloses my full identity by showing how the accounts are linked … this violates that principle, which discomforts me.

    Initially I thought this message would only be read by worpress support staff, and didn’t understand it would be public, please excuse me, apologies I misunderstood the warning about not including financial details etc. Now I can’t modify my initial message. Nor can I delete this thread or redact my middle and surnames,

    Please redact my full names from this post here ?
    That’s why I created another support request without those details, isn’t it preferable that the other message thread that was closed be used instead of this one possibly?

    Not change the current user (full middle name and surname), because that already owns a matching site… … I still want to keep the full name user account and matching blog for non 12 step, non anonymous writing, that is personally identifiable to me.

    You cannot create a new account with that username. Only the account that already owns carlos00m.wordpress.com can use that username. But we can change what account owns that site.

    First, log into your other account, and transfer ownership of that site here, to your carlo00m account.

    Once this account owns the site, you will be able to change this account’s username to carlos00m.

    If your other account still has to have access to the site, you can then invite it as an admin later, but this account you’re using here will be the owner and have the matching username.
