Linked YouTube Videos Gone Black–Why?
-
Last December I published a blog post about Apollo 8. The post included a couple of YouTube videos. Now I notice that they just show black on the blog, and going to YouTube also are just black there. No notice about being withdrawn or anything—just black.
What does this mean? Does it mean they are gone, or just that a server hosting them is down (does YouTube host uploaded videos, or just link to some personal server?).
Is it a mistake to rely on YouTube videos for essays that one hopes will have some durability?

Hi Mr Lynn,
Are you referring to this post?
I was able to view the YouTube videos without issue on both Chrome and Safari.

Howdy Darrell–
Yes, I was referring to that post. I just discovered that if I turned on “Click to Flash” in Safari Preferences, that they videos show up. Apparently they are (now) HTML5, and you need Click to Flash to see them. Or something. Don’t really understand what’s going on, but all seems well now.
Thanks for checking.
