I’m confused my website is no longer linked to my profile when I got to wordpress.com

    WP.com: Unknown
    Jetpack: Yes
    Correct account: Unknown

  • Hi, I don’t see any WordPress.com sites under your account here.

What is the URL of the site you’re trying to access?

Once we know that, we should be able to help with this or at least direct you to the folks who can.

http://www.fromfourlegstotwo.com. it’s so weird because I even have alerts about my site from wordpress.com but I never had them as a host.

  • Yes, that site used to be connected to WordPress.com by the Jetpack plugin, but it is not currently connected to any WordPress.com account.

The problem is that we’re being blocked from accessing https://fromfourlegstotwo.com/xmlrpc.php which Jetpack requires to function.

Unfortunately, blocking XML-RPC is not an excellent solution for fighting security risks. Instead, it’s akin to selling your car because you don’t want it to be stolen.

Your site’s XML-RPC file is like a communication gateway to your site. Jetpack, the WordPress Mobile Apps, and other plugins and services will use this file to communicate to your site. If this is blocked, you will have different issues pop up down the road for the same reasons.

If you are using any security plugins, please try connecting with those temporarily deactivated. If you don’t have any, or if that didn’t work, I suggest contacting your hosting provider and asking them to unblock your site’s XML-RPC. The most popular hosting providers out there have managed to find other ways to protect their servers without having to hinder your site and your ability to use services with your WordPress site.

If they refuse to make any changes, and if you want to use apps and plugins like Jetpack, I’d suggest looking for a new host. Here are a few hosts we recommend: https://jetpack.com/hosting/
