Linking a domain name.
-
Hi,
I currently own a domain name through CoffeeCup.
What I would like to do is upgrade this website to Premium. However, I will then be paying the $8.25 and my current bill for the domain name. Is there any way to transfer the ownership of the domain name from CoffeeCup to that of WordPress?
My second question is, how exactly do I go about linking the domain name I own and the WordPress site. I am unable to do it through CoffeeCup itself.
Kind regards
Spencer Schafer

No there isn’t as wordpress.com does not accept domain transfers. However, you can map an existing domain.
WordPress.com provides free blogs and hosts them free of charge. There are no bandwidth charges. All WordPress.com blogs come with 3000 megabytes (~3 GBs) of space for storing uploaded files and images. Free features are listed here https://en.wordpress.com/features/
There are no monthly payment plans for upgrades. All billing is annual. We must pay for all upgrades in full for a 1 year subscription at the time of purchase.
We have different plans: free, personal, premium and business. All hosting is free regardless of which plan you choose. You can view all wp plan features here https://wordpress.com/pricing/
In order to remove the .wordpress.com URL and replace that with a domain URL you have to add a plan Add a plan for your site here: http://store.wordpress.com/plans/ and purchase an upgrade. See https://wordpress.com/pricing/
Make sure you read the comparison very closely do you know exactly what the restrictions and limitations on WordPress.COM blogging are: http://en.support.wordpress.com/com-vs-org/

Important Notes Before Upgrading http://en.support.wordpress.com/domains/#important-notes-before-upgradingWhat domain mapping does is providing a seamless redirect to the very same content under the new domain URL when a person clicks the old URL to the original content. It can take up to 72 hours for domain propagation to take place throughout the internet but it doesn’t usually take that long.
