linking all images & image duplications

  • Unknown's avatar

I’m trying to, by default (and retroactively) link all images to images in the media library. This is a display option. I didn’t realize attaching images to media wasn’t a default. Now I have many images unattached and they can’t be viewed at maximum size. Instead of editing each image on each page individually, can I attach them all?

How can I remove duplicates that aren’t attached to any pages? How can I filter to see all unattached images in the media library? I see a dropdown menu to choose ‘image’ and a menu for date. In the media library, I don’t see how I can filter by any other criteria.

    PLEASE HELP. Thanks.

There is a List View of the Media Library that will give you an option to choose Unattached and to delete items.

This document shows you what the list view icon looks like and a small picture of the list view that includes a line with these topics with a number in parentheses:

    All | Images | Audio | Unattached

I know about list view and now I know how to find all unattached images.

But I don’t see how this helps me to easily link all images to media files in display settings.

All images I recently added to pages weren’t linked to media files. I thought that was a default – didn’t realize I had to opt to link them in display settings. I haven’t have to manually link images in the past, for all the other images on all the pages in all my WordPress sites. Why, suddenly, do I have to take this additional step?

As it is, I’ve created many new pages and none of the new images are linked, which means that viewers can’t zoom in to see the images – the thumbnail is the maximum size.

The only way I know to change the display settings is to go to each page and edit each individual image. That will take many hours.

Is there a way to change the display settings for all images to link them to media files?

    Thanks.
