Linking an email address hosted on Regiser365 to a WordPress Site?

Wondering if I could pick your brains about something – have you linked an email address hosted on Regiser365 to a WordPress Site before?

I registered englishweek.ie with Register365, and as part of that deal, I’m able to create email addresses at that domain name, such as (email visible only to moderators and staff) , the one I created.

I then went ahead and got working on the WordPress website. Then I mapped the englishweek.ie domain name to the website.

Now, I am trying to get the (email visible only to moderators and staff) email address working. Having absolutely no joy. I got onto Register365 about it, and they sent told me that I would have to use their MX (email exchange) records in order to get the email service working properly:

After further investigation on this issue I have found that the domain englishweek.ie is using Name servers that are associated withWORDPRESS.COM.
This would make any changes done at our end redundant, as this domain is not using our services.
Please provide your contact at WORDPRESS.COM with our MX (Email exchange) records in order to get the email service working correctly.
    Our MX records are –
    Athena.hosts.co.uk
    Hermes.hosts.co.uk
    Hope this helps.
Please rate our responses so that we may improve our service.

So I used the WordPress help section, followed the instructions as outlined in this page:

    http://en.support.wordpress.com/domains/add-email/add-other-email/

I’m attaching a screenshot of the Custom DNS Records section of the Englishweek.ie WordPress page. I tried emailing (email visible only to moderators and staff) straight away after but I got a Failure Message…

Do you know if it takes a few hours to take effect? Or have I messed up somewhere along the way?

    Kind Regards,

    James Gaffney

    Hi there,

You did GREAT! Figuring out MX records are not easy, and you set them up perfectly (as long as what your email providers sent you was correct, of course!).

Now the sad news is that DNS changes take between 1 and 48 hours to propagate throughout the Internet for most kinds of domains (.coms, .nets, etc), but for some of the more exotic domains, it can take up the 72 hours. .ie is not terribly common, so it may take the full 72 hours before your email is working correctly.

If it’s not working by then, I would reach out to your email provider and ask them to do a DNS lookup to see if they can see that your email records are correct. If they can see that they are, then there may be something on their end. If not, ask for the settings again with the priority for each record included. Then we can try again!
