Linking blog posts to locations on a map

Is it possible to embed a map (e.g. Google) into a home page, with various pinned locations that are linked to posts associated with that location?
The idea would be that a viewer could visit the page, look at the map, and decide they are interested in reading about the posts associated with one area. When they select that pin, it would take them to another page, which includes the list of blog posts associated with that location. Does that make sense? It’s sort of complicated but would be really wonderful to be able to do!

Although we bloggers cannot plugins on wordpress.COm hosted blogs other Volunteers have said in the past that this online image mapping process works well
