Linking Categories to Pages

I have been able to but all my blog posts into categories but I want to be able to separate them into the columns that I have created on the top of my blog under my archive section. How am I able to separate them on the menu bar at the top? Can this be achieved through using categories?

The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

    Hi,

How am I able to separate them on the menu bar at the top?

I want to be able to separate them into the columns that I have created on the top of my blog under my archive section. I’m not sure what you mean. Your menu does include links to a href=”https://en.support.wordpress.com/posts/categories/#category-pages-menus”>category pages. Have you resolved the issue?

There are presently “Earth Friendly” and “Faith” sub-menu items in your menu that link to category pages, the “Earth Friendly” and “Faith” category page, respectively. These display all of the posts in the corresponding categories. The other category pages are empty because there are no published posts with the “crafts” and “food” categories assigned.

Also, the first generation of sub-menu items under “Writings” seems redundant and unnecessary since these represent the same categories as the second generation of sub-menu items, and they presently link to empty static pages.

Sorry, I messed that up. Let me try again:

I made the pages of those like “Earth Friendly” and “Faith” but couldn’t figure out how to add my actual blog posts to them. Then I realized I could add them by category under the Writings heading. Now I’m curious if there is a way to merge them? Or is there a separate way to add specific posts to the pages “Earth Friendly” or “Faith” and not keep the categories pages of them.

My first need would be to add my posts to the pages of “Faith”, “Earth Friendly” and others and not have the categories pages at all, if this makes sense.

It’s possible, and you can do that if you like, but I wouldn’t recommend it for the following reasons:

    1. A category page automatically displays those posts assigned to that category.
    2. A static page won’t display posts unless you add them to the content of the page. This can be done, for example, with Display Posts Shortcode customized to display only posts in a single category.
    3. Display posts shortcode inserted into a static page won’t be able to duplicate the theme’s style of the category page, though some free customization is possible.

Now I’m curious if there is a way to merge them?

Static pages and category pages are different types of pages. Unlike the first, the second is dynamic, meaning 1. There is no page editor and therefore no place to add content to the page, 2. It will grow automatically each time a new post assigned to that category is published. They can’t be merged. However, display posts shortcode inserted into a static page can be customized so that the page behaves like a category page, though it won’t look exactly the same.
