linking category to a page

  • Unknown's avatar

I am creating one blog, but I would like different categories for if my wife posts a blog and for when I do, so she has a category and I do. I did that and it was successful. However, rather than having the viewer click on the category, I was wondering if I could make a page for me and for her, so when the click on our page they get sent to our category, rather then having to scroll down to our own category.

    Thanks.

The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

  • Hi there,

Yes, you can! We have a full guide for how to set up category pages here:

Perfect! Thanks. Also I hvae another request submitted that hasn’t been addressed yet. I was wondering if it is possible to change the name of my domain. I saw where I could add an additional one but would be charged. So since I already used the free custom domain with my premium membership, I was wondering if I could just change the domain from….an example…justinpetrick.com to justinreneepetrick.com. I know I have to cancel within 48 hours, so I am eagerly awaiting a response.

    Thanks

Ohhh….one more questions. I was wondering if it was possible to link posts to 2 seperate facebook accounts. I have one registered, but didn’t see where I could register a 2nd facebook account for auto-posts.

    Thanks again. :)

  • Hi Justin – Ok, I canceled your domain and restored the free credit so that you can register the other domain.

I was wondering if it was possible to link posts to 2 seperate facebook accounts.

Yep, just close out of the pop-up window that shows that you’re connected to one, and then next to Facebook in the table of publicize connections, you’ll see the Add New button. Before you click it, you’ll need to log out of your current Facebook account and log into the other one you want to connect.

Noo….lol. please don’t cancel it. I was wondering if it were possible to change it. Can u restore it?

  • Hi Justin – When you register a domain, the name itself is what you’re purchasing. There’s no way to change it. I can get it back for you if you want justinpetrick.com. But if you want justinreneepetrick.com, you’ll just have to register that domain instead. Let me know which you want, I can probably still get the old one back if I act quickly.

Ouch just leave it canceled. Im gonna change the name. Thanks for your help. :)

  • No problem! :)

Let me know if you need anything else.

Hey. :) It’s me again. I had another questions. I was wondering if you could get rid of the comment box on the bottom of pages so people couldn’t comment on certain pages. Is that possible? I found the settings–discussion where you could check features for commenting, but didn’t see anything for disabling or enabling the commenting feature.

    Thanks! :)

  • Yep! Settings->Discussion changes aren’t retroactive, so for any posts or pages that were already published before you changed that, you’ll need to edit the individual post/page and find the Discussion module here, below the editor:

If you don’t see the Discussion module there, click the Screen Options tab in the upper-right corner of that screen and put a check next to ‘Comments’ in the box that expands:
    Screen Options

Hey! Thanks. I clicked the comment box under settings>Discussion and its working fine for the pages I have been creating since. However, for existing pages I have been going under edit>screen Settings> and all the comments boxes are unchecked, but it is still showing a comment box for them to reply. Will this eventually update? Or should the reply boxes be erased immediately, or am I gonna have to just re-create the pages again? Thanks.

  • Hi there,

You want Comments to be checked in Screen Options. That controls whether the Discussion module appears below your page editor. Check that, and then you should see this below each page:
    http://cl.ly/image/3G35052g350i

You want to uncheck those boxes and update the page.

Yup, thats what I did. The comments box is checked in Screen Options, and under Settings>Discussions it is unchecked. But it still appears only on my Home page. I have gotten rid of all the comment boxes on my other pages, the only one that seems is not working is the Home. Any other ideas?

  • Hmm, no idea, then. When I edited your Home page, the comments box in the Discussion module was still checked. I unchecked it, updated the page, and the comment form is gone now. :)

Thats what I was going to write to you next because it seemed like it wasn’t updating. Thanks for doing that!
