Linking images to a smug mug account

    I recently added a smug mug account so I could try sell some images that I post on my wordpress blog. The idea at this stage is to simply have the url click link for each wordpress photo, a link to buy the image on smug mug.

    What do you think of this method?
    I realise it means uploading things twice, though once is the full size image (smug mug) which i then put a big watermark on to avoid downloads, and the other is a websize pic for wordpress blog with an unobtrusive watermark. And it gives me flexibility I think. I don’t want to share with friends and family something that looks like i’m trying to make money off them – so they get the wordpress blog.

    Also any tips to make my site better, perhaps i should have an introduction sticked to the top?

    Hey there,

    That sounds like a good solution to your problem!

    As far as making your blog more inviting, it depends entirely on the audience you are trying to reach. As it sounds like you are aiming primarily at family and friends, a personal introductory note prominently placed on your blog would be a very nice touch.

    PS. I should clarify WordPress.com’s commercial sales policy as well. You are free to sell your own content through your blog, but we do not allow resale of content created by others on WordPress.com blogs. In this case, as you sound like you’re selling your own photography, our regulations do not prevent you from selling your content.
