Linking images to media file vs. attachment page
-
Would someone please explain to me the differences between the linking choices for images in a post? I have always chosen to link a post photo to attachment page, ie to the post on which it appears. When and why would I want to choose link to media file? Just curious.
The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

Attachment page is not the page in which the image appears: it’s a new, separate page containing nothing BUT the image. Link to file shows only the image, not the sidebar, background, etc that Link to Attachment Page shows.
