Linking in a blog
-
I went to this link: http://en.support.wordpress.com/links/ and I followed the directions, and still – in my posts, the link appears as a link and not the words that I would like it to (rather than showing the URL).
I’m in firefox.
The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)
-
This is the general link model:
<a href="URL HERE">Highlighted anchor text here</a
This is the visual result but as it’s just an example it’s not actually linked to a page:
Highlighted anchor text here</a- Enter the anchor text you want to link to first.
- Then use your mouse to highlight that anchor text.
- Next click the chain icon in the Visual editor and proceed to create the link.
-
I did that – and in the end – it still shows the URL in the post. what am I doing wrong?
-
I made mistakes above. Here we gone again.
This is the general link model:
<a href="URL HERE">Highlighted anchor text here</>
This is the visual result but as it’s just an example it’s not actually linked to a page:
Highlighted anchor text here</>- Enter the anchor text you want to link to first.
- Then use your mouse to highlight that anchor text.
- Next click the chain icon in the Visual editor and proceed to create the link.

I am having a BAD Day. Here’s the third try. Fingers crossed.

This blog is empty http://atlmom9.wordpress.com/
Posted on January 19, 2011What is the URL of the blog starting with http:// that you are referring to please?

Okay. Follow my third try instructions here https://en.forums.wordpress.com/topic/linking-in-a-blog?replies=7#post-1268015

That is how to make links in the Text editor. If you are using the visual editor you write whatever word it is you want to be linked, then you highlight it, then in the link box that pops up you put the actual link starting with http, select whether you want it to open in a new page or not, give some alt text for the link, and click done.
Are THOSE the steps you are following? And when you use a link, you must use the http:// in the front or it won’t work. That’s what’s wrong with your link to the blog in your reply to TT. That could be what is wrong with your link when you’re writing it.

Thank you! I was highlighting the URL – and thought that the ‘title’ would replace the words in my post !!!
Thanks so much for the help. :)
