Linking my own website address- in order to track site performance

    Good day,

Please kindly assist. I initially started my blog on WordPress. After 2 years I then got my own website address (hosted by another server). I would like to know if there is a way to link my new website to my old WordPress account so that I can have features like the ‘like’ button and stats view added to my new site (I would like to track how my posts and website is progressing). I really loved those features that WordPress offers and do not want to delete the account I initially opened 2 years ago. How can I go about this?
    Thank you in advance.

  • Hi, have you considered using Jetpack? It’s designed to offer some of the features and services available on WordPress.com, for individual WordPress installations. It has free and paid options available. Stats and the Like button are both free.

Thank you so much. Is Jetpack like a plug-in or? I’m still learning a lot of these techno terms and the like…

  • Jetpack is our plugin for adding WordPress.com features to any WordPress site hosted by another provider.

i.e. if your site is on WordPress.com you have some features that you do not find with other providers (like built in stats or a like button) and Jetpack will add those features, so essentially you will still have your existing site with no changes, and will just be adding the features you need to it.

You can download Jetpack for free here: https://wordpress.org/plugins/jetpack/

    Hope this helps!

Thank you so much. So I have added Jetpack as a plugin and under plugins it shows that it is “Activated”. However, I have been trying to set-it-up but I keep getting these notifications.

“Choose an account to set up Jetpack.
An account with this email address already exists. Please log in using your WordPress.com email and password.” when I use via Google.

I then get “Log in or create a WordPress.com account to set up Jetpack” when I choose the “Continue with WordPress.com” option.

My domain is under another hosting site although I migrated from my previous WordPress free site which I initially started at.

How can I go about setting up Jetpack without any difficulties. Please help…I am so so stuck :’0

  • Make sure you’re already logged in to WordPress.com when you try to connect Jetpack.

If that’s still not working, please make sure that your browser is up to date: https://browsehappy.com/

If it is not, please try updating your browser or switching to a different browser.

If it is, please do these two things:

    1. Try clearing your browser’s cache and cookies.

    2. Try with all browser extensions or add-ons temporarily disabled.

Please let us know how each step goes for you, and which browser (and version of) you’re using if you’re still having trouble.
