Linking photos to custom url's.

There is no longer a setting to link my photos to custom url’s as decribed in this article http://en.support.wordpress.com/images/image-settings/ at least on my blogs. I also run cycministries.wordpress.com and cannot for the life of me figure out where it went. On my outofdustmedia site I did it all the time. Now going back, I can’t do it on there either… I tried several different ways.

Ok, apparently it’s only when making a gallery that it no longer does this. I am pretty darn sure I’ve done it before. That’s why there’s a cluster of social media icons in my outofdust blog sidebar. They used to take you to my social media profiles. Now they just take you to the media attachment page…

We’ve never been able to link images inserted by using the Gallery feature to outside links. Gallery images can only link to the Photo Carousel (default unless turned off), media file, attachment pages or none on the thumbnail Gallery.
The social icons you’ve inserted via the Gallery widget in your sidebar are leading to attachment pages. (As are the icons at the bottom of your front page post.)
If your theme does not support a social links menu, you can add them in your sidebar with a text widget. See here for instructions: http://en.support.wordpress.com/add-social-media-buttons-to-your-sidebar-or-footer/

You can, however, link individually inserted images to Custom URLs, just not by using the Gallery feature.

I could’ve sworn I’ve done it before. Perhaps I was confusing it with my self-hosted site. I wish we could link them, it would be helpful.
