linking posts to a page

    Hi, I’m trying to set up a new site with a static about/home page and a blog page where daily posts appear. I set up the two pages choosing from the suggested themes for both, but when I create a post I have no idea where it’s going and can’t seem to link it to a specific page. Can you help?

    Hi there,

    once you designate a certain page to be the static home page, you will need to also set a page for the posts. This you do on the same section in the customizer where you set your homepage.
    Since you don’t want your home page to be an archive of your latest posts.

    @cooksue88,

    but when I create a post I have no idea where it’s going and can’t seem to link it to a specific page.

    If you’ve assigned a page as your posts page, as described by @idreamofunicorns34, then your posts will appear there. Viewing that page, you should see your latest posts in reverse-chronological order. But how will a visitor find your posts? You can address this problem by adding a link to the page to a custom menu. In the Site Menus support page, see the Create a Menu section (if necessary), and the Add Menu Items section.

    Thanks for the answers. I’ll try this later today. Part of my problem was I was not getting the home page option in customiser, but I have worked out now that only appears once you’ve actually published a page, which seems rather counterintuitive. Thanks for your time.

    Sue
