Linking text to categories

  Am I able to code a text box that will link the text to the categories? My intention is to have custom text (font & size) for the categories links. I tried, but found what I was actually doing was creating separate pages within the blog, which apparently has nothing to do with categories. I assumed that each category would group their own posts on a separate page in addition to the main page, but I see this is not the case. Is what I’m trying to do possible? Perhaps I need to upgrade.
