Linking to GPX/KML files
-
When I link to upload a GPX or KML file I get the message:
“Sorry, this file type is not permitted for security reasons.”How can I set WP to allow these file types?

Hi There,
can we have the url of your site please ?Have you tried renaming the extension to .xml and see if they get uploaded? If that works you can put a notice for your users to rename the file extension back to .gpx after they’ve downloaded it.
Alternatively, you can zip them and upload the zipped file. Please note that this solution requires a Personal, Premium, or Business plan.
You can also use either Carto embeds or Google Maps here on WordPressdotcom
https://en.support.wordpress.com/carto-embeds/Let us know if you have any other question about that. You are also welcome to suggest supporting GPX files in the Ideas forum.
Please note that these forums are for WordPress.com hosted sites only. If your site is using the open-source WordPress.org software you need to seek help at these forums:

Hi Mike,
I’m afraid that your site is not hosted with WordPress.com. It is a site using the open-source WordPress software (from WordPress.org) but hosted with Dreamhost.
Because WordPress.com and WordPress.org are two entirely separate entities, we cannot access files or data for sites that are hosted elsewhere, so WordPress.com staff can only assist with sites that are hosted on our servers. You can read more about the differences between WordPress.org software and WordPress.com here:
You can look for help at the community forums here: https://wordpress.org/support/forums/
http://wordpress.org/support/ is also a great resource for sites using the open-source WordPress.org software.
