Linking to other sites

  OK… rookie question #2.
  I have a link to the NY Times in my text widget. When I give the link “the finger”, it teases me and pretends to be linking to NY but then it just comes back to WordPress.com. Is this just because it’s in “design mode”, or what?

  I have a dream that someday I’ll be answering the dumb questions instead of asking them.

  Hmmm, it must be something in their code. It should work. Instead of copying, try writing it from scratch and putting the link in by hand. It won’t look as good, but it’ll work.

  It appears that the poster is writing the link like so:

  <a href> http://www.nytimes.com/2007/03/16/washington/16cong.html?hp</a>

  It should be like the following:

  <a href="http://www.nytimes.com/2007/03/16/washington/16cong.html?hp">Link</a>
