Linking WordPress to other domain name

My domain name was purchased through ArtStation, can I keep my main home page on ArtStation and just have a separate WordPress website be my main shop without causing my base domain name to stop going to ArtStation first? So, I want my main website name to still lead to ArtStation for my portfolio, but I want to create a WordPress site to be a separate shop that I can link to my ArtStation portfolio. So, rather than having my .com domain name go to the WordPress site, I’d rather the main page of the WordPress site be something like .com/shop so that it doesn’t get in the way of my main domain name going to ArtStation. How would I set that up when WordPress asks for my main domain name which I already own when creating an account? I don’t want to screw up being able to visit my ArtStation site when typing in the domain name.

    I don’t have a site with WordPress.com yet

  • Hi there,

What I would recommend is adding a subdomain to your WordPress.com. So, if your site at Artstation is example.com, the subdomain for your WordPress.com site would be shop.example.com.

For instructions on how to add a subdomain, please check out the steps on our support page:

A subdomain has an extra piece of text before your main domain. For example, if your domain is yourgroovydomain.com, you can create subdomains such as blog.yourgroovydomain.com and shop.yourgroovydomain.com which you can use with a separate website. This guide will show you how to connect a subdomain to your site. Getting Started A few items to point out before you begin: Decide on

Adding a subdomain connection subscription requires a paid plan. Were you planning on using your WordPress.com site as a shop/eCommerce store? If so, I would recommend the Business Plan, as it provides you the option to install plugins (such as WooCommerce), and custom themes, provides 200 GB of media library space, real-time backups, live chat support, sFTP access, and more:

Please share more about your goals for the shop, and I’ll be happy to point you to the best upgrade options that align with your goals.

    Thanks!
