Links

I have posted one page in my blog and kept other pages as drafts. I want to create a link between a main page and the draft page. When i insert the permalink of the draft page in any object like a sentence of my main page and publish it the draft said appears on main page which i dont want. The draft page should open by clicking the the sentence in which its link is inserted. My blog is realityofislam.Wordpress.com

What do you NOT want? I’m sorry, I don’t understand what you really mean or really want.

If a page is left as a “draft” it is not public. only you can see it in your editor page.

I am presuming you don’t want these pages showing up on your Blog in the Tab?
You can create one page as an index and place the other pages as child pages.
or you you can have these “draft” pages on another blog.

in either case, these pages must be “published” to be seen publicly.

I will site an example. When you Click on any mobile on nokia website only then you get the details of mobile and the details are not displayed without clicking. Thats what i want. My second blog page should open only by clicking a word or sentence in which the second page is linked and should not appear on the main page.

You can link to pages from words in a sentence, but you cannot link to pages that have not been published. If you have kept a page as a draft (unpublished) in the editor, it is not public and cannot be linked to nor can it be viewed. It can only be viewed if it has been “published”.

Let me make it clear this time. My problem is that i wana keep my one page as the main page of my blog which can be seen always whenever we login to the site. Now i want to link this page to the other post which i have saved as draft. When i link the two and publish the draft page it appears on main page which i dont want. It should only be available when click some sentence like ‘click here’. Hope you got it.

Are you saying that you don’t want a so-called posts page where all posts appear? But you want a static front page with links to the posts that are published?

Not sure I understand this but let me try
    1. Make a static front page like it is explained here, but don’t make the posts page.
    http://faq.wordpress.com/2007/02/20/having-a-static-page-at-the-front-of-the-blog/
    2. Create your draft posts or draft pages.
    3. On your static front page, create the text with the sentence you want to link to your post.
    4. Publish your draft posts or pages, and preview them, so you can see the URL.
    5. Use the URL to create a link in the sentence in #3 above.

    Note:
Your posts page, although not visible on your blog, can be found directly in Google.
Your individual and published posts can be found directly in Google.

OK, perhaps I’m now understanding what you are looking for now.

If you have already created the page that you want as your main page, then go to settings > reading in your dashboard, from “Front page display” select “A static page (select below)” and then from the pulldown select the page you want to use as your front page.

Next you are going to have to select a page that you want your posts to appear on. If you have not created one, do that and do not put anything in the text area. Simply create name, and publish the page. Now under settings > reading, select that page from the “post page” pulldown. Make sure and click “save changes” after you have made the above changes.

Now, open the front page for edit, and then in the text area put in the text you want to show there, and a link to the “post page” you created and set as the “post page”.

From then on, when someone clicks on the link on the main page, they will be taken to the page were your posts are.

    @TSP
Yes, it could be that way too. I wasn’t quite sure whether realityofislam wanted to link to each post individually (like I suggested) or to the posts page (like you suggested).

I’m not really sure either. I took a guess really and your solution has as much chance of being right as mine. Either way, I think we have it covered – maybe.

Thanks for your solutions to this chaos. It worked.

You’re very welcome, and happy blogging.
